Luigia… Passion = Perfect Pizza + Pasta

Italian restaurants can be found in every city in the world… from very modest cities to Mégapoles… they are everywhere and anywhere…

People think that it is easy to make pasta.. or pizza…

But very few places make the true Pizza…

Pizza is not dough, tomato sauce and cheese… only

It is science… years of research and dedication…

I have been to hundreds of Italian restaurants across the world… several in Italy… Some even very gastronomic and that is another story…  but I have never been to a Place such as Luigia…

My first visit was a few years ago when Luigia had just first opened… I immediately recognised that Luigia was more than a Pizzeria… It was THE PIZZERIA…

I kept coming back and it became my it place to go with my kids… every time I take someone as a guest…

I recommended it to so many people that I even lost count…

Time has passed and one would think that with success Luigia would fall in its comfort zone… and feel complacent about its success…

Quite the opposite… the place gets better and better…

Every season… every new menu… new favours are brought to light… new ingredients are tested…. and new dishes are served…

The places booms with people… each one of us in total expectation and anticipation….

So, it was with the greatest pleasure that I accepted the invitation to attend a bloggers lunch a few weeks ago…

I was expecting a great meal in great company… but what I had was the ultimate culinary experience.

First, Enrico Coppola, the co-founder of Luigia came in flesh and blood to have the meal with us… He took the time to explain everything about every single dish…

Without wanting to sound cliche, passion was tangible in every word that came from his mouth…

What was supposed to be a menu with a tasting dishes, turned to be an experience of a lifetime… most of the dishes we tried that day were still not part of the restaurant menu…

Let me now get to the point and show you…

To refresh ourselves, we were introduced to a cocktail which is made with a campari type of drink… it reminds you of the spritz by the look of it but it is less bitter and way more refreshing….

Them a whole series of antipastis were served to us and I assure you, they were all to die for… it is really hard to elect one but if I did not have a choice… my elected would be the fiore di zucchina ripieno… OMG… OMG.. OMG… the crunchiness of the flower was amazing….

 

Then, it was PASTA time…

The menu had Fettucine and Risotto, but you may add spaghetti and another type of pasta (that now scapes my mind) but the picture is below… to it… there was also a Bruschetta added last minute.

I confess the Risotto was my favorite but the spaghetti was also very special…

There is MORE… AH, much more…

Then the Secondi…

Polletto alla diavola (chicken) and Cotoletta alla Millanese  – THE MILANESE is the best MILANESE of my life…. first it is huge and it can be easily shared between 2 or 3 people… but the texture of the flour around the veal was just perfect… It was divine…

The milanese is supposed to enter the official menu in October…. I seriously cannot wait to go back and have it with my family.

Not finished yet… The best to the end… although I dont know where I could find space…

PIZZA… PIZZA…

Every time I go to Luigia I must eat the pizza in form of a flower petal with black truffles… no brainer… just toooo good to try something else.

This time  was invited and I had to try new things… NO REGRET…

Pizza Cantabria and Pizza Ionica … nice eating you!

Game over now??? of course not…

Desert time… Again, in the menue we had anticipated 2 to try… How on earth did we end up with 6 on the table??? Ask Enrico!!! He was so proud of his creations as father showing off its child, he wanted us to try everything…

My winner: The Chocolate Cheese cake… the softest cheesecake I ever had in my life… nothing like the rubber cheesecakes we are used to see around… the inner part of the cheese cake is so soft that resembles a chantilly…. weeks later I close my eyes and I feel the texture of it… so remarkable it was…

Well… By now you are calling Luigia and making a reservation, right?

After trying it, you will never be able to eat anywhere else…
